I’ve known Divya for over 20 years, in the biotechnology arena and now as an entrepreneur.  Her ability to forge deep relationships to the better end of all parties is remarkable.  In the biotech world, she had a particular way with even the most demanding clients, meticulously weaving each conversation to move the relationship from adversarial to a true partnership.  She found a delicate balance between holding firm and not over delivering, while continuously getting the most information possible to move forward on whatever project she was working on – and these clients truly loved working with her.  In the entrepreneurial world, Divya teaches her followers how to use science-based strategies to achieve great success in all types of relationships, including your relationship with yourself (mindset), with money (also mindset), with customers, clients and patients (marketing), with business colleagues  (bosses, employees, partners, peers), with your family and friends, and with the world (philanthropy, legacy).  I’ve personally worked with Divya on the marketing side.  I am a business strategist, and I have a practical way of communicating, so my copy for marketing pieces used to be straightforward and frankly a bit bland.  After working with Divya, I now “speak” to my potential clients’ emotions and their deepest desires, using the techniques Divya teaches, my response rates have markedly increased.  The key here is that Divya’s way of communicating transfers to ALL relationships, and is simply a better way to relate to getting great results for everyone.

I sell high ticket one-on-one experiences to 7-figure business owners, and previous to working with Divya, the responses from my potential customers during an enrollment discussion were that they knew they needed a business coach/mentor, but they weren’t ready to make such a big decision.  I would then start talking about how I help people, what types of tools I use and they became uninterested, and I wasn’t getting any deals closed.

Once I began working with Divya, I stopped talking about “how” I could help people.  I followed Divya’s process.  I asked questions and really listened to their answers.  I asked them about their pain – what challenges they have in their businesses.  After I heard their answers, I asked more questions about their pain, and then I asked questions about how it would look if they were on the other side of this pain.  I continued working through the steps Divya helped me to define, and by the end of our conversation, these potential clients were now clients.  I was getting “yeses” by the end of the calls, and I was finally closing deals.  I knew what I had was needed, I didn’t know how to have the conversation, how to build a relationship in such a short time.  Divya knows how to do this and so much more, about relationship building.  I highly recommend her for any relationship work. -Michelle Doss, Strategic Growth Advisor ✪ Executive Coach

As a leader or an entrepreneur or a Mover and Shaker, you are already in the business of making people’s lives better. Why not take it a step further and expand your reach to influence more people positively. What you give others is what you give yourself. If you smile at someone, you are giving yourself the benefits of smiling while you give a little joy to someone.

A picture is worth a thousand words. When you think about the power of giving, Diwali comes to mind. Diwali, the festival of lights, is equivalent to Christmas. People paint their houses, let go of the old to make way for the new, and celebrate the holidays. Family and friends exchange sweets, gifts, and goodwill.

The existence of light means eliminating the doubts (darkness) and replacing it with trust. During Diwali, it is tradition to light a Diya (an oil lamp) and keep the Diya filled with oil so it keeps spreading the light for a long time.  Then, the first lamp is used to light other Diyas. The concept is that the increased light of awareness will remove the darkness of ignorance.

What does this have to do with leadership?

Everything.

First, it is important to consistently fuel yourself to give to others just as a diya or a car cannot keep running unless it has enough fuel. A good leader should not feel like he or she is alone on an island or under siege in their office. A great leader leads himself or herself, family, friends, organization, or business with a giving heart. The leader gets out into the community and lends their expertise, time, and money to those causes and programs that mean something to them. A successful leader is someone perceived at as having a “light.” Like a Diya, that leader spreads his or her light to others. The leader has the power to use their light to ignite others.

This is not a case of giving up your power. Rather, you are using it to empower others. As you light one Diya lamp from another, the room continually becomes brighter. You are doing the same thing when you give your time to other causes or organizations, or you mentor people in your own business.

We get out of life what we put into it. Our approach to leadership is organic and aharmonious whole. Whenever you give up your light for the benefit of others, you will receive returns exponentially greater than what you put into it.
